Dear Voter,
As a concerned citizen, it frustrates me to see our “Golden State”mired in the economic condition that it is in. The struggles California continues to face aren't going away.
Our state has made it harder to do business. Taxes are too high. Regulations are overly burdensome. And the government bureaucracy too often views the residents it supposedly represents as adversaries, and not as the potential human resource that contributes to the economy of our great state.
That’s why I’m running for the California Board of Equalization’s 4th District – an open seat that covers most of Southern California -- to positively reform the BOE and the way it treats taxpayers. Businesses need to be free to thrive, and the BOE, which collects and regulates sales tax, among more than 30 other use, utility taxes and fees, can lead the way.
I’ve stood up and fought for taxpayers my entire career -- from my days as a business professional in Orange County to my time on the Garden Grove City Council to the years I spent in the Legislature. Year after year, the more things changed – the need to stand diligently by the taxpayers remains the same.
I’ll take that same can-do approach, that same record of fighting for taxpayers – to the BOE.
I respectfully ask that you join me in our fight for tax fairness. Together, we can turn California around and put the “Gold” back into the “Golden State ”.
Sincerely,
Van
